1. The Match Girl - She is the protagonist of the story. She was selling matches in the cold.

2. Grandmother - She was the only person who loved the little match girl, she appears in the little match girl’s hallucinations.

3. Father - The father was the one who told the little match girl to sell matches.


  Point of View:

- The short story, The Little Match Girl was told from a third-person point of view.


      Theme:

1. Struggle: The Little Match Girl struggles to sell any matches and because of that, she would not go home, scared that her father would punish her.

2. Loneliness: The Little Match Girl was alone between two houses.

3. Hope: The Little Match Girl was hungry and cold but she didn't lose hope.

The Little Match Girl by: Hans Christian Andersen                                   This story talks about a poor young girl that sold matches on the street. It was a cold New Year’s eve. On the streets, the little match girl walked in the cold with no extra clothes and she had no shoes to protect her feet from the cold air. She had slippers when she left home but sadly the slippers are too big for her. She sold matches every day to earn money to buy food.
